Third Generation
Emanuel Gometz was born on 20 Mar. 1886 in Munka Ljungby, Kristianstad, Sweden. He came to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island aboard the ship Carpathia, on 8 June 1903 and joined his brother in Connecticut. In the U. S., he used the name Emil. A few years after his arrival he moved to Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois. There he met Ethel Mae Welch whom he married on 11 Nov. 1911 in Chicago, Illinois. Some years later they were divorced and Emil returned to Connecticut where he worked for the Post Office until his retirement. He married, secondly, Hanna Catherine Olson, but they had no children. He died on 12 May 1967 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Ethel Mae Welch was born on 5 Sep. 1892 in Belvidere. She also married a second time to Ralph Joseph Anderson. She had no children by the second marriage. She died 26 July 1968 in Sacramento, California.
F i Evelyn Marie Gometz was born in 1913. She married Donald MacGregor Millar. They had one child. M ii Ralph Emil Gometz was born in 1915. He married Eileen Patricia O'Leary. They had three children. M iii Walter Lloyd Gometz was born in 1916. He married Helen Elizabeth Egan and they had three children.
